Step 1: Open the car key remote or fob. It’s easy to pop open a key fob to replace the battery. Locate the notch in the seam and pry the remote into two halves. In most cases, you might not be able to open the fob with your hands. So, find yourself a small flat-head screwdriver and pry it open.1. Switch ignition on with working key (position 2) and leave. 2. Mechanically lock the drivers door with the second key (I left the drivers window open just in case) 3. Using the second remote press the unlock button once. 4. I thought the battery on the key fob battery had died, as the light on the keyfob was not glowing upon pressing any of the buttons. I immediately changed the battery on the remote, but to no avail. Even with the new battery, the remote is not working. Podgy. Remove the drivers door lock cap and lock then unlock the car with that key, it should re sync it, if not then it's a trip to the dealers. Many thanks for this tip. After one of my key fobs failed to lock/unlock the car I phoned my local main dealer and explained the problem.
3) Give the car 5-10 mins - and then the battery should have enough juice to actuate the remaining part of the central locking. 4) Press Unlock either in the car (button with Lock symbol) or press the unlock key on your remote. You should now have access to the rest of the car.
